Progress Update

More has happened this month with the Vanuatu Tourism Infrastructure Project with the project shaping up nicely without major hassles. Project Engineers have responded to queries about the use of rock revetments at Fatumaru. The coastal protection works are important to minimise erosion of soil and sand which may occur in storm conditions. Research has been done to determine the most viable options for the coastal protection works. Read about the rationale for the use of coral rock; other progress updates, as well as works to be expected this month in both English and French.

Since the opening of the Fatumaru Bay Park in December 23 2016, many incidents have been reported that show damage to the facilities. Dumping of rubbish and dirty nappies in the rocks and gardens are some examples. The VPMU which manages these projects requests that the public use these facilities with care.
