The government of Vanuatu has successfully engaged Ocean Logistics Ltd to relocate the Santa Maria vessel (Oct 26th), which means works can now begin. The vessel washed up at the Seafront and was obstructing works. All project quality, safety and environmental plans have been prepared and reviewed and will be submitted to relevant authority for approval. A public stakeholder meeting was held on Thursday 29th October to present Hawkins proposed staging plans, covering the major civil works (seawall repairs and rock revetment). Hawkins have since established an office in Port Vila and have mobilised key staff. Works are expected this month. Members of the public are asked to keep a look out for notices that will indicate working sites which means public access to those site will be restricted.
